The stage is set for the 7th Edition of the Universities Basic Schools Sports Association (UBaSSA) Games, taking place from September 9 to 14, 2025, and proudly hosted by the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, the heartbeat of the Ashanti Region.
A National Celebration of Youth, Sports, and Unity
UBaSSA Games is Ghana’s premier inter-university basic schools sports festival, bringing together young athletes from across the country to compete in various disciplines. The Games provide a unique platform to showcase talent, foster discipline, and celebrate the critical role of sports in holistic student development.
Participating Universities
UBaSSA 2025 will feature basic school teams from the following public universities in Ghana:
- Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) – Host
- University of Ghana (UG)
- University of Cape Coast (UCC)
- University of Mines and Technology (UMaT)
- University for Development Studies (UDS)
- University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR)
- CK Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences (CKT-UTAS)
These institutions represent the strength of Ghana’s education sector and are grooming young athletes who embody the future of national sports.
Sporting Disciplines
UBaSSA Games 2025 will feature a lineup of exciting events including:
- Football
- Athletics (100m, 200m, 400m, relays, etc.)
- High Jump
- Long Jump
- Javelin
- Table Tennis
These competitions will offer thrilling moments and opportunities for students to shine and grow in skill, confidence, and teamwork.
